While it has a charming cast with satisfactory action and humor to go along with it, it’s not enough to save the film from feeling like all filler, and no thriller, with the MCU’s ultimate showdown coming up next month in Avengers: Endgame. I feel like Brie Larson’s debut as the character could’ve been something really special and unique, but instead the film plays it safe with Marvel’s classic origin story formula it’s used several times before.
