taking the first resistance box M to N

by parallel combinations: 1/R= 1/4+1/4=2

and taking second resistance box L to R

same as parallel combinations 1/R= 1/12+1/6= 4

therefore by series combination R =R1+R2+R3+R4

=2+1+4+1 =8

BY OHMS LAW

v=IR

v=16v ,R=8ohm

I=V/R

V=16/8

=2ohm
