Final arrangements of India's Independence were worked out first by Cabinet Mission Plan. It was constituted in 1946  with the aim to transfer power from the British Government to Indian leadership. It proposed for a weak center while preserving unity of India.

As the Cabinet Mission was rejected both by Congress and Muslim League, the British later passed Indian Independence Act 1947 which finally freed India from British clutches but with partition.
