Hi Akhil!!

so that was a nice question, I see!

coming to the question, so what is a democracy?

Abraham Lincoln had defined democracy as "a government of the people, for the people, and by the people...."
But is that all? Let's see:
A democracy is a form of government in which the rulers are elected by the people to form the government. It is a people's government, since those who form the government are the representatives of the people. In a democracy, people have the freedom of speech and expression i.e. thay can freely express their views and opinions and it is an accountable form of the government. People have the right to form opposition political parties to keep the government's  actions in check. The ultimate power to take the decisions rests in the hands of the people...So, in a democracy, people are the main forces and are indeed the strength of the country. There is active political participation in a democracy. Also, there is better decision-making in a democracy since many people put their heads together to work out a plan or a policy. A democracy is, in many ways, a better form of government than a monarchy or a dictatorship..
