According to question,

Difference of two numbers = 14

➝ x - y = 14

On putting value of x from equation 1 into above equation we get;

➝ ( -7-y ) - y = 14

➝ -2y = 14 + 7

➝ -2y = 21

➝ 2y = -21

➝ y = (-21)/2

y = - 10.5

________________________________

Put value of y in equation 1

➝ x = -7 - (-10.5)

➝ x = -7 + 10.5

x = 3.5
