Answer:

Given equations are,

2x−

4

3

y=3

⇒

4

8x−3y

=3

⇒8x−3y=12      ...(i)

5x−2y=7      ...(ii)

Multiplying eq (i) by 5 and eq(ii) by 8, we get

40x−15y=60      ...(iii)

40x−16y=56      ...(iv)

Subtracting eq (iv) from eq(iii), we get

(40x−15y)−(40x−16y)=60−56

⇒y=4

Substituting the value of y in eq(i), we get

8x−3×4=12

⇒8x=12+12

⇒8x=24

⇒x=

8

24

∴x=3

Hence x=3  and  y=4.
