a)

(100-1)² = (a-b)²

a² -2ab + b²

(100)² - 2*100*1 + 1² =

10000 - 200 +1 = 9801

b)

(10-0.5)² = (a-b)²

(a)² - 2*a*b + (b)²

= (10)² - 2*10*0.5 + (0.5)² =

100 - 10 + 0.25 = 90.25

\large{\bold{\pink{\boxed{Your \: \: Answer}}}}\\ \\
a) \: (100 - 1) {}^{2} \\ \\ = {(100)}^{2} - 2.100.1 + {(1)}^{2} \\ \\ = 10000 - 200 + 1 \\ \\ = 10001 - 200 \\ \\ = 9801 \: \: \: \bold{\underline{Ans}}
