Solution

From the given figure,

⇒ ∠PCk + ∠kCD = 180°    [Linear Pair]

⇒ 140° + a = 180°

⇒ a = 180° - 140°

⇒ a = 40°

∴ a = 40°

Line kl || Line nm,

⇒ ∠kCD = ∠CDm  [Alternate Interior Angles]

⇒ ∠a = ∠b

⇒ ∠b = 40°

∴ b = 40°

∴ The measures of angles a and b are 40° respectively.
