find A:B:C in each of the following. (i) A:B=3:5 and B:C=4:9

To find the common ratio first you have to bring the common terms ratio to same position everywhere
here common term is B , so the value of B in the ratio has to be same throughout that is A:B = 3:5 can be written as 3*4:5*4 = 12:20
and B : C = 4:9 can be written as 4*5:9*5
= 20:45
Now we can directly compare A:C = 12:45 = 4:15
