Solution :-

We have,

3a+2b=13

4a-2b=8

Solving the given equation by elimination method, we get-

a=3, b=2

Therefore,

a+b=5

3a +2b = 13 --->(1)
4a -2b =8 --->(2)
eq (2)-(1)
=>a -4b = -5
a=4b+5 --->(3)
substitute (3) in either (1) or (2)
we get
b = 2
and then
a = 3
-----》 a+b = 5...
