Let's Assume :

  • The number is x

Given Equation :

Given, the number is multiplied by 7 and 3 is subtracted from the product to get 53.

Now, we will equate this statement as :

(7×x)-53

or, 7x-3=53

Solution :

Now, we will solve the found equation to find the value of x .

 \implies  \tt{7x - 3 = 53}

 \implies  \tt{ 7x = 53 + 3}

 \tt{ \implies 7x = 56}

 \tt{ \displaystyle \rm \implies x =  \frac{56}{7} }

 \red{ \underline{ \boxed{ \tt{ \implies x = 8}}}}

So, the number is 8

Verification :

Now, we will check if we have got the correct answer or not.

Let, 7x-3 is LHS

53 is RHS

so, putting the value of x ,

7x-3

= 7(8)-3

= 56-3

= 53

So, LHS = RHS

Hence, Verified!
