2x = x/2 + 45

==> 2x - x/2 = 45

<==> (3x)/2 = 45

==> 3x = 90

==> x = 90/3 = 30, the unknown number.

  • { \sf{let \: the \: number \: be }} = x

so,

  • 2x =  \frac{x}{2}  + 45

  • 2x -  \frac{x}{2}  = 45

  •  \frac{3x}{2}  = 45

  • 3x = 90

  • x =  \frac{90}{3}</strong><strong> </strong><strong>= </strong><strong>3</strong><strong>0</strong><strong>
