Hey mate,
Here is your answer

2x^2 +x-4=0

a=2,b=1,c=-4.

Discrimant (D)=b^2-4ac.

D=(1)^2-4(2)(-4)

D=1+32

D=33.

Roots are real and unequal.

x= -b+-
D/2a

x=-(1)+-
33/2(2)

X=-1-33/4, X=-1+33/4.

Hope it helps u...

Discrimant (D)=b^2-4ac.

D=(1)^2-4(2)(-4)

D=1+32

D=33.

Roots are real and unequal.

x= -b+-√D/2a

x=-(1)+-√33/2(2)

X=-1-√33/4, X=-1+√33/4.
