let the zeros be a=1 and b= -3

QE is

x^2 - x (a+b) + ab=0

x^2 + 2x - 3 = 0        <=>  p x^2 + qx + r = 0

relation between Coefficient and zeros

sum of zeros = -3+1 = -2 = -q/p

a+b = -q/p

product of roots = -3*1 = -3 = r/p

a*b = r/p
