We know that,

  • A number which can be written in the form of p/q where q ≠ 0 are known as rational numbers .

So,

→ 7.7 = 77/10

→ 7.9 = 79/10

now, since natural number between 77 and 79 is 78 .

then,

→ Rational number between 77/10 and 79/10 = 78/10 .

therefore,

→ (77/10) < (78/10) < (79/10)

→ 7.7 < 7.8 < 7.9

hence, a rational number that is between 7.7 and 7.9 is 7.8 .
