a sq. + b sq. = 551

(a-b)^2 = (23)^2

a^2 + b^2 - 2ab = 529

a^2 + b^2 - 2 × 11 = 529

a^2 + b^2 -22 = 529

a^2 + b^2 = 529 + 22

Therefore, a^2 + b^2= 551
