Given :

Mass of the block = 20kg

Two forces of 10N and 20N respectively are acting towards right and a force of 5N is acting towards left.

To Find :

Acceleration of the block.

Solution :

■ In this question three different forces are acting on the block so first we need to find net force acting on the block.

Net force acting towards right will be

  • 10 + 20 = 30N

➙ Fₙ = F (→) - F (←)

➙ Fₙ = 30 - 5

Fₙ = 25 N

■ As per newton's second law of motion, force is measured as the product of mass and acceleration. [F = m a]

➠ Fₙ = m × a

➠ 25 = 20 × a

➠ a = 25/20

a = 1.25 m/s²

(3) is the correct answer!
