To find : all positive rational numbers x and y

Solution:

x = 1  and y = 1

x + 1/y  = 1 + 1/1  =   2

y + 1/x  = 1 + 1/1  =  2

x = 2  and  y  = 1/2

x + 1/y  = 2  + 1/(1/2)  = 2 + 2 = 4

y + 1/x  =  1/2  + 1/2  =  1

x = 1/2  and  y = 2

x + 1/y  =  1/2  + 1/2  = 1

y + 1/x  = 2  + 1/(1/2)  = 2 + 2 = 4

Hence (x , y)  are  ( 1 , 1)  , ( 1/2 , 2)  and ( 2 , 2)
