Step-by-step explanation:

Let a function be f(x)

Then calculate f'(x)

Calculate those points where f'(x) is zero let the points are 'a' and 'b'

Now calculate the double derivative of f(x) means f''(x) and then put 'a' in it if f''(a) > 0 then it will be a local minima or if f''(a) < 0 then it will be a local maxima.

Do the same for b.
