Answer:-

Given Polynomial : 3y² - y - 4.

By splitting the middle term,

→ 3y² + 3y - 4y - 4 = 0

→ 3y (y + 1) - 4 (y + 1) = 0

→ (3y - 4) (y + 1) = 0

→ 3y - 4 = 0

→ 3y = 4

→ y = 4/3

→ y + 1 = 0

→ y = - 1

Verification:-

Let a = 3 , b = - 1 & c = - 4

Sum of the zeroes = - b/a

→ 4/3 + ( - 1) = - ( - 1) / 3

→ (4 - 1*3) / 3 = 1/3

→ 1/3 = 1/3

Product of the zeroes = c/a

→ (4/3) * ( - 1) = - 4/3

→ - 4/3 = - 4/3

Hence, Verified.
