angle AOC + angle COB = 180° ( linear pair )

( 3x + 5 )° + 55° = 180°

3x + 60° = 180°

3x = 180° - 60°

3x = 120°

x =  \frac{120}{ 3 }  \\ x = 40

so, angle AOC = ( 3x + 5 )°

= 3 × 40 + 5

= 120 + 5

= 125°
