Given that,

⟶When there are three positive integers a, b and c

⟶Which are related by the equation a^2 + b^2 = c^2 , they are said to be a pythagorean triple.

5^2 + 12^2 = 25 + 144 = 169 = 13^2,

∴so 5, 12 and 13 are a pythagorean triple.
