area of square= 1/2 d^2
= 1/2*5√2*5√2 = 1/2*50= 25square cm
= 1/2*5√2*5√2 = 1/2*50= 25square cm

Let the sides of the square be x and the square be ABCD.
=>AB = BC = CD = AD = x.
Then, by Pythagoras Theorem,
In ∆ABC,
AC ^2 = AB^2 + BC ^2
(5√2)^2 = x^2 + x ^2
50 = 2x^2
50/2 = x^2
25 = x^2
√25 = x
5cm = x.
The area of the square ABCD = 5^2 = 25sq.cm.
