Given

  • Radius of the smaller circle = 7 cm
  • Radius of the bigger circle = 14 cm

To find

  • The area of the shaded part

Concept

  • We are having the value of the radius of both the big and small circle. Firstly, we will find the area of the bigger circle and then we will find the area of the small circle.

  • To find the area of the shaded part we will subtract area of the small circle from the bigger one.

Solution

Using formula,

Area of the bigger circle = πr²

where,

  • Take π = 22/7
  • r = radius

Substituting the values,

⟶ 22/7 × 14 × 14

616 cm²

Area of the bigger circle = 616 cm²

Using formula,

Area of the bigger circle = πr²

where,

  • Take π = 22/7
  • r = radius

Substituting the values,

⟶ 22/7 × 7 × 7

⟶ 154 cm²

Area of the smaller circle = 154 cm²

Area of the shaded portion = Area of the bigger circle - Area of the smaller circle

⟶ (616 - 154) cm²

⟶ 462 cm²

Area of the shaded portion = 462 cm²
