GIVEN :-

In Figure ABCDE

  • AC = 12 cm.
  • EF = 2 cm.
  • ED = 8 cm.
  • BG = 4 cm.

TO FIND :-

  • The Area of quadrilateral.

SOLUTION :-

  • [ Let's break the quadrilateral into two parts (1) in triangle ABC and (2) in trapezium ACDE .]

For ABC

  • Height (BG) = 4 cm.
  • Base (AC) = 12 cm.

Area of △ ABC = ½ × base × Height.

➬ ½ × (AC × BG)

➬ ½ × 12 × 4

➬ 48/2

24 cm².

Hence Area of △ ABC is 24 cm².

For trapezium ACDE

  • parallel sides (AC , DE) = 12 cm , 8 cm.
  • Height (EF) = 2 cm.

Area of trapezium ACDE = ½ ( a + b) × h.

➬ ½ (AC + DE) × EF

➬ ½ (12 + 8) × 2

20 cm².

Hence the area of trapezium ACDE is 20 cm²

For Quadrilateral

  • Area of △ ABC = 24 cm².
  • Area of trapezium ACDE = 20 cm².

Area of quadrilateral = Area of △ ABC + Area of trapezium ACDE .

24 cm² + 20 cm².

44 cm².

Hence the area of quadrilateral is 44 cm².
