Gɪᴠᴇɴ :-

  • Sides of Triangle = 17cm, 8cm, 15cm

ᴛᴏ ғɪɴᴅ :-

  • Area of Triangle
  • Height corresponding to longer side (17 cm)

sᴏʟᴜᴛɪᴏɴ :-

On using HERON'S FORMULA, we get,

  • Area = s(s - a) (s - b) (s - c)

where,

s = Perimeter of triangle /2

s = (17 + 8 + 15) / 2

s = 40/2

s = 20 cm

And, a , b, c are sides of triangle

So,

Area = √s(s - a) (s - b) (s - c)

√20 ( 20 - 17)(20 - 8)(20 - 15)

√20 × 3 × 12 × 5

√60 × 60

60 cm²

Hence,

  • Area of Triangle = 60 cm²

\rule{200}2

Now,

We know that,

  • Area of Triangle = ½ × Base(b) × Height (h)

On taking longer side as base , we get,

60 = ½ × 17 × h

60 × 2 = 17h

120/17 = h

h = 7.05 cm

Hence,

  • Height (h) corresponding to longer side = 7.05 cm

\rule{200}3
