Gɪᴠᴇɴ :-
- Sides of Triangle = 17cm, 8cm, 15cm
ᴛᴏ ғɪɴᴅ :-
- Area of Triangle
- Height corresponding to longer side (17 cm)
sᴏʟᴜᴛɪᴏɴ :-
On using HERON'S FORMULA, we get,
- Area = √s(s - a) (s - b) (s - c)
where,
➠ s = Perimeter of triangle /2
➠ s = (17 + 8 + 15) / 2
➠ s = 40/2
➠ s = 20 cm
And, a , b, c are sides of triangle
So,
➭ Area = √s(s - a) (s - b) (s - c)
➭ √20 ( 20 - 17)(20 - 8)(20 - 15)
➭ √20 × 3 × 12 × 5
➭ √60 × 60
➭ 60 cm²
Hence,
- Area of Triangle = 60 cm²
Now,
We know that,
- Area of Triangle = ½ × Base(b) × Height (h)
On taking longer side as base , we get,
➭ 60 = ½ × 17 × h
➭ 60 × 2 = 17h
➭ 120/17 = h
➭ h = 7.05 cm
Hence,
- Height (h) corresponding to longer side = 7.05 cm
