Find average speed and average velocity for the given shown below

A Man walks 500m on a straight road in 10min and return along the same path in

20minutes​

Formula of average speed:-

 \overline{v} = \dfrac{Total \ distance}{Total \ time}

So,

=>  \overline{v} = \dfrac{500 m + 500 m}{10 + 20 mins}

=>  \overline{v} = \dfrac{1 km}{0.5 h}

=>  \overline{v} = 2 kmh^{-1}

Now, average velocity:-

 v_{av} = \dfrac{Total \ displacement}{Total \ time}

=>  v_{av} = \dfrac{0}{0.5 h} = 0 kmh^{-1} .

So, the average speed and velocity of the man was 2 km/h and 0 km/h respectively.
