Step-by-step explanation:

given :- b-3a = 40°

b = 40° + 3a. ....(1)

b = 40° + 3a.

from figure it is clear that both angles make 360°

therefore

a + b = 360°

from equation 1

a + 40+ 3a = 360°

a +3a = 360-40

4a = 320

a = 320/4

a =80°

put this value in equation 1

b = 40° + 3(80)

b = 40+240

b = 280°
