Given,
x + y = 4  -  -  -  -  - 1\\ x - y = 4 -  -  -  -  - 2 \\  =  > x = 4 + y
Putting this value in eq. 1,
 \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: x + y = 4 \\  =  > (4 + y) + y = 4 \\  =  > 4 + 2y = 4 \\  =  > 2y  = 4 - 4 = 0 \\  =  > y =  \frac{0}{2}  = 0.
Putting this value in eq. 2,
x = 4.

Hi!!!!
it's your answer!!!!

x+y=4 = x-y=4
x+x=4 = -y-y=4
2x=4 = -2y=4
x=4/2 = y=4/-2
x=2 = y=-2
LHS = RHS

hence, verified

hope it's help you .
