for real and equal roots

D= 0

b²-4ac =0

x² -2(c+1)x + c²= 0

on comparing this eq with standard form of quadratic equation ax²+bx+c=0

a= 1 ,b = -2(c+1) ,c = c²

D=0

b²-4ac =0

-2(c+1)² - 4×c² =0

-2(c²+1+2c) -4c² =0

-2c²-2-4c -4c² =0

-6c² = 4c +2

c² = 2(2c+1)/6
