SOLUTION

GIVEN

The co-ordinates of p and q are - 9 and - 1 respectively

TO DETERMINE

d (A,B)

EVALUATION

Here it is given that the co-ordinates of A and B are - 2 and 5 respectively

Since co-ordinates of A and B are of opposite sign

So Both lies in opposite side of the origin

Also 5 > - 2

Hence the required d (A,B)

 \sf = |B - A|

 \sf = | 5- ( - 2)|

 \sf = | 5 + 2|

 \sf = | 7|

 \bf = 7
