Osmosis:-

Osmosis is the movement of solvent particles from a solution that is diluted to a more concentrated one.

Diffusion:-

In contrast, diffusion is the movement of particles from a higher concentration region to a region of lower concentration.

OSMOSIS:- It is a process in which only SOLVENT moves through a SPM (selectively permeable membrane) to equilise osmotic pressure.

DIFFUSION:- Wherease in diffusion whole solution moves from high concentration to low concentration.

Additional information

  • selectively permeable membrane allow only few solvents to pa.ss through it. It depend on membrane that which solvent will move through it.
  • For ex water cleaning is done by the process of osmosis but a special kind of osmosis is used called reverse osmosis.
  • To find osmotic pressure a formula is used p=ixcxRxTp=pressure , I=von hoff factor , c=concentration , R=rydburg constant ,T=temperature.
