1)

The distance between two points (2, 3)

& (4, 1) is given by

distance

d=(x2−x1)2+(y2−y1)2

here (x1,y1)=(2,3) & (x2,y2)=(4,1)

d=(4−2)2+(1−3)2=22+22

d=4+4

d=8

d=22 distance

2)

points(−5,7)and(−1,3)

Distancebetweenpoints=(−1+5)2(3−7)2

[bydistanceformula(x−a)2+(y−b)2]

=16+16=32

Distancepoints=42unit
