Find the horizontal and vertical distance between the points. First, subtract y2 - y1 to find the vertical distance. Then, subtract x2 - x1 to find the horizontal distance.

Answer :-

Let A(a,a) and B(-a,-a)

By using distance Formula,

AB =  \sqrt{ {( - a - a)}^{2}  +  {( - a - a)}^{2} }

 =  \sqrt{ {( - 2a)}^{2} +  {( - 2a)}^{2}  }

 =  \sqrt{4 {a}^{2} + 4 {a}^{2}  }

 =  \sqrt{8 {a}^{2} }

 = 2 \sqrt{2}  {a}^{2}

Therefore, the distance between the given points is 2√2a² units
