given y = x/(x+1)

we can use quotient rule of derivative

if y = u/v

dy/dx = ( v du/dx - u dv/dx)/v^2

so dy/dx = (x+1) * 1 - x (1) / (x+1)^2

= (x + 1 - x)/(x+1)^2

= 1/ (x+1)^2
