steps

y =  \sin(x)  +  \sqrt{x}

 =  \sin(x)  +  {x}^{ \frac{1}{2} }

therefore

 \frac{dy}{dx}  =  \cos(x)  +  \frac{1}{2}  {x}^{ -  \frac{1}{2} }

 =  \cos(x)  +  \frac{1}{2 \sqrt{x} }
