Answer:-

Given points are (2 , 3) and ( - 7 , - 1).

We know that;

Slope of a line (m) = (y₂ - y₁) / (x₂ - x₁)

where;

  • (x₁ , y₁) is the first point
  • (x₂ , y₂) is the second point

Let;

  • x₁ = 2
  • y₁ = 3
  • x₂ = - 7
  • y₂ = - 1

Hence;

⟹ m = (- 1 - 3) / ( - 7 - 2)

⟹ m = ( - 4) / (- 9)

⟹ m = 4/9

We know;

Equation of a line having slope m is y - y₁ = m(x - x₁)

Hence;

Required Equation of the line

⟹ y - 3 = (4/9)(x - 2)

⟹ 9(y - 3) = 4(x - 2)

⟹ 9y - 27 = 4x - 8

⟹ 0 = 4x - 8 - 9y + 27

⟹ 4x - 9y + 19 = 0

The required equation of the line is 4x - 9y + 19 = 0.
