Understanding :
1) Wheatstone Bridge.
Steps :
1) Here, from 5 ohm resistance current will not pass.
4ohm & 8 ohm +8ohm & 16 ohm are part of Bridge of Wheatstone.
And 4/8 = 8/16
Since, 4 and 8 are started with potential A and 8 and 16 are started with potential B,
So, we can apply Wheatstone Bridge in them.
So,
Remove 5ohm resistance.
2) Now, 4ohm and 8 ohm are in series. (as shown in pic)
and 8 and 16 are in series.
Both are parallel along with 8 .
So,
1/ R = 1/8 + 1/ 24 + 1/ 12
=> R = 4ohm.
