Given

  • Four resistors of 2Ω are connected parallely. They further are connected in series with a 20Ω resistor

To Find

  • Equivalent resistance

Solution

☯ The equivalent resistance of a parallel combination is given by, 1/R = 1/R₁ + 1/R₂ ... + 1/Rₙ

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

✭ According to the Question :

➞ 1/R = 1/R₁ + 1/R₂ ... + 1/Rₙ

➞ 1/R = 1/2 + 1/2 + 1/2 + 1/2

➞ 1/R = (1+1+1+1)/2

➞ 1/R = 4/2

➞ 1/R = 2/1

➞ R = 1/2

➞ R = 0.5 Ω

  • So then Rₙₑₜ = 0.5 + 20 [Bcz they are connected in series]
  • Rₙₑₜ = 20.5Ω
