To test the presence of starch in a food item:
(a) Take a paste of food sample.
(b) Pour iodine solution on it.
(c) To prepare iodine solution ,take tincture of iodine and mix with a test tube half filled with water.
(d) If a blue - black color appears, it indicates the presence of starch.

1.take a food sample and make a paste of it.
2.put it in a test tube
.
3.put some drops of iodine solution in it ans hake the tube well.
observation:-the food sample present in test tube turns blue-black.
