now let us make the denominator equal  

firstly lcm of 4 and 2

 = 8

we will only  got 2 numbers with 8 as denominator
so

8 *3 = 24

so 

1*12/12*2 = 12/24

1*6/4*6 = 6/24

so five ratinal number between 1/2 and 1/4 are

7/24,8/24,9,24,10,24 and 11,24
