Before, finding the answer. Let's find out how we can find the answer.

  • In this question, we are asked to find five rational numbers between -2/5 and 1/2.
  • So, to find that, we have to make the denominators same. And to find that, we have to take the L.C.M of the denominator's.
  • Then, we have to make the LCM as the denominator.

Given :

  • -2/5 and 1/2

To find :

  • five rational numbers

Solution :

  • Now finding the LCM,

LCM of 5 and 2 :

\Large{ \begin{array}{c|c} \sf 5 & \sf{5, 2} \\ \cline{1-2} \sf 2 & \sf {1,2} \\ \cline{1-2} \sf  & \sf{ 1,1}  \end{array}}

LCM = 5 × 2

       = 10

  • Making the denominators same.

\sf \dfrac{-2}{5 } = \dfrac{-2 \times 2}{5 \times 2}

      \sf = \dfrac{-4}{10}

\sf \dfrac{1}{2} = \dfrac{1 \times 5}{2 \times 5}

   \sf  = \dfrac{  5}{10}

  • Since, 5 rational numbers are there 5 rational numbers between -4/10 and 5/10. We can write them. And they are :

\sf \dfrac{-3}{10} , \dfrac{-2}{10}, \dfrac{-1}{10}, \dfrac{0}{10} \: and \: \dfrac{1}{10}
