Given one number =  \frac{-1}{2}

Given another number =  \frac{1}{4}

If you've to find the rational numbers between any two rational numbers, then just follow the following steps, it will be superb easy!

Step 1: Write the numbers as it is for avoiding confusion.

 \frac{-1}{2}

 \frac{1}{4}

Step 2: If the denominators are the multiples then multiply the small denominator with a suitable number so that both the denominators be same.

Here, 2 is the multiple of 4. So, multiplying 2 with both numerator and denominator.

 \frac{-1\times 2}{2 \times 2} = \frac{-2}{4}

Step 3: Multiply 10 or 100 or 1000 according to the number of digits present in the question.

Here, both the fractions are one - digit numbers, so, multiplying 10 to both the numerator as well as denominator of both the answers.

 \frac{-2 \times 10}{4 \times 10} = \frac{-20}{40}

 \frac{1 \times 10}{4 \times 10}

 \frac{10}{40}

So, our new numbers are,  \frac{-20}{40}\:\&\:\frac{10}{40}

The four rational numbers between \frac{-20}{40}\:\&\:\frac{10}{40} are:

 \frac{-9}{40}, \frac{1}{40}, \frac{7}{40}, \frac{9}{40}

You can write any of the four numbers. It's your wish and will.
