First find the HCF of 24,40:

By Euclid's Division Lemma,

a=bq+r

40=24(1)+16

24=16(1)+8

16=8(2)+0

Thus HCF(24,40) = 8

Now,find the HCF of 8 and 50

50=8(6)+2

8=2(4)+0

Thus HCF (50,8)=2

Thus the HCF of 24,40,50 is 2...

Answer:

According euclids division algorithm

a=bq+r

so,taking 50 and 40

50>40

so ,50=40*1+10

since r is not equal to 0

so 40=10*4+0

here r=0

hence hcf=10  [temporary]

again now taking 10 [tempo.hcf] and 24

24=10*2+4

since r is not equal to 0

so

10=4*2+2

since r is not equal to 0

so again

4=2*2+0

at last the hcf comes out to be 2

hence hcf=2

i hope it may help you
