Answer:

Euclid's division lemma a=bq+r

The highest number is 148

148=124×1+24

124=24×5+4

24=4×6+0

The HCF of 148 and 124 is 4

\large{\frak{\green{question}}}

Find the HCF of the

148 and 124 by Euclid's algorithm.

\large{\frak{\green{solution}}}

Using Euclid's division algorithm

I.e, a=bq+r

{ where a is the divident, b is the divisor , q is the quotient and r is the remainder}

( dividing 148 by 124 we will get 1 as quotient and 24 as remainder)

148 = 124 × 1 + 24

(dividing 124 by 24 we will get, quotient = 5 and remainder = 4 )

124 = 24 × 5 + 4

( dividing 24 by 4 we will get, quotient = 6 and remainder = 0)

24 = 4 × 6 + 0

(Here the remainder became 0 and the last divisor is 4)

Hence,

HCF(148, 124) = 4.
