Answer:(i) 59.4 m^2

(ii) 94.38 m^2

Step-by-step explanation:

Given height = 4.5 m and radius = 2.1 m. Lateral or curved surface area = 2πrh = 2 x 22/7 x 2.1 x 4.5 = 59.4 m^2

Total surface area of the closed cylindrical petrol storage tank

= 2πr (r + h)

=2 x 22/7 x 2.1x (4.5 + 2.1) = 87.12 m^2

Area of steel sheet wasted in making the tank

= (1 / 12) x Total surface area

= (1 / 12) x 87.12 m^2

= 7.26 m^2

Actual area of the sheet used for making the tank.

= Total surface of the tank + Area of steel sheet wasted in making the tank

= 87.12 + 7.26

= 94.38 m^2
