12 ky^2+8ky-20k
= 12ky^2+20ky- 12ky-20k
= 4 ky( 3y+5)-4k(3y+5)
=( 4ky-4k) (3y+5)

Hi there !!
Here's your answer

Given,
to factorise 12ky² + 8ky - 20k

The following expression can be factorised by spitting the middle term.
The following conditions are necessary to do this :

The product of the coefficient should be equal to product of sum of the same two numbers

That is,

ab = -12 × 20 = -240
a+b = -12 + 20 = 8

So,

12ky {}^{2} + 20ky - 12ky - 20k

Regrouping the terms, we have,

12ky {}^{2} - 12ky + 20ky - 20k

Taking out common factors,we have,

12ky(y - 1) + 20k(y - 1)

Taking y - 1 as common factor, we have,

(y - 1)(12ky + 20k)
is the final answer

Alternative

Regrouping the terms,
we have,

12ky² + 20ky - 12ky - 20k

Taking common factors,we have,

4ky(3y + 5) - 4k(3y + 5)

= (4ky - 4k )(3y + 5)
