Relation between slope of line and its two points
Answer: Required value of k is 0.
Explanation:
Given that for line BC coordinates of B is ( k , -5) and corrdinates of C is (1 , 2) .
Also slope of the line = 7
Need to determine value of k.
slope of the line that is m having coordiantes of two points as ( x1 , y1) and (x2 , y2) is givne by following formula
m = (y2 - y1 ) / ( x2 - x1 )
In above case x1 = k , y1 = -5 , x2 = 1 and y2 = 2 , aslo m = 7
Substituting the givne value in above formula we get
7 = (2 - ( -5) / ( 1 - k )
=> 7 ( 1 - k ) = 2 + 5
=> (1-k) = 7/7
=> 1-k = 1
=> 1 - 1 = k
=> k = 0
Hence required value of k is 0.
