Given :

 \longrightarrow {kx}^{2}+4x+1=0 \\  \:  \: \: has \: real \: and \: equal \: roots \:

To find :

» The value of k

Solution :

p(x) =  {ax}^{2}  + bx + c = 0

here a = k , b = 4 and c = 1

Here they had given that The roots are real and equal.

» D = 0

d =  {b}^{2}  - 4ac

 {b}^{2}  - 4ac = 0 \:  \:  \: { here}

d =  {4}^{2}  - 4(k)(1) = 0

 = 16 - 4k = 0

4k = 16

 \therefore \: k \:  = 4
