k = 1 if one root of the equation 5x2 + 6x + k = 0 is five times the other.

Step-by-step explanation:

let say one root = a

then other root = 5a

sum of roots = - 6/5

=> a + 5a = -6/5

=> 6a = -6/5

=> a = - 1/5

5a = -1

products of roots = a(5a) = k/5

(-1/5)(-1) = k/5

=> k = 1

5x^2 + 6x + 1 = 0

(5x +1)(x + 1) = 0
